Volunteering

Our Learning and Development Programme can provide you with an opportunity to volunteer. We also offer the option to join our training programme "A Pathway to Drugs Work" which is accredited by the Open College Network London Region as a stepping stone to becoming a drugs worker.

Who Can Volunteer:

You need to be aged 18+,and able to offer a minimum commitment of 4.5 hrs a week for at least 8 months. You can volunteer to provide help with one of our services or you can volunteer your therapist skills to benefit our clients.

We have volunteering placements primarily in Kensington and Chelsea and other London boroughs.

No previous volunteering experience is necessary, as a full induction and on-going training is provided.

We welcome applicants from ex-users who have been abstinent from using substances for a minimum of a year.

  • Drop In volunteer primarily within the borough of Kensington & Chelsea and some other London boroughs
  • Therapists
  • Counsellors
  • HOT volunteering with youths
  • ETE (Education Training & Employment) - assisting the ETE project interacting with clients in assessment, workshops, accreditation)
  • ETE Project Mentoring & Befriending clients
  • LAD (Learning & Development)  volunteer - assisting Learning & Development  with supporting volunteers/supervision/accreditation/lessons/Inductionetc.

Accredited Training Programme - A Pathway to Drugs Work:

Our accredited training Porgramme, A Pathway to Drugs Work, is aimed at people wishing to pursue an interest in the drugs field. It is a 6 month course accredited through open College Network London Region, and provides the opportunity to recieve professional drug related training and hands on experience through a structured and supported voluntary placement.

'A Pathway to Drugs Work' consists of 5 units, 2 of which are at level 2 or 3.

  • Drugs Education
  • Safe Working Practice for Drug and Alcohol Volunteers
  • Drugs Work - Principles and Policies in Practice
  • Reflection and Supervision in Work Placement
  • Demonstrating Speaking and Listening

Credits are awarded for each individual unit completed. To be awarded the full A Pathway to Drugs Work accreditation, all 5 units will need to be completed and assessed.

The training will take place every other week on Wednesday mornings and the course will last 6 months.

Accreditation will be awarded through assessment of assignments, observations, witness testimonies, presentaions, learner journals and portfolios.

The course is free if you are a volunteer at Blenheim CDP.
