STEP (Specialist Targeted Engagement Programme) is a result of a unique partnership between Westminster Drug Project (WDP) and Blenheim CDP. Both organisations have a long and established history of delivering services to people affected by drug problems in the London area.

STEP offers an intensive and pro-active service to prolific drug using offenders in conjunction with London Probation and the Metropolitan Police. STEP also works with substance misusing offenders referred by the courts and subject to Restrictions on Bail; a part of the Home Office’s Drug Interventions Programme.

What we offer:

STEP offers three levels of support: Intensive, Intermediate and Ongoing. Continual assessment and contact is provided alongside care planning and care management. Information on the effects of drugs and relapse prevention, how to recognise the triggers of drug use and how to manage cravings experienced is offered. Rapid access to other services is offered and clients can be accompanied to appointments with other services, ensuring that treatment plans are maintained. Service from initial contact through to aftercare is provided.

Our services are provided free of charge to residents of the London Borough of Wandsworth and referrals come through via the local DIP scheme and the courts.

Key Work Sessions:

We offer one to one sessions with a designated key worker. These sessions are to provide support in dealing with issues so that clients can complete their care plan successfully. We work with clients on a one to one basis using a variety of techniques including Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, encouraging clients to work towards and maintain goals identified through keywork sessions and care planning. Clients are seen at the Wandsworth Drug Project on Garratt Lane or can be met in a variety of community locations; court, probation, housing, GP or any other setting that might be suitable. Clients can also be accompanied to appointments throughout the community by their STEP keyworker.
