A free and confidential open access service for people who wish to address their drug use. We provide advice, support and treatment to reduce harm to both individuals and the wider community in Greenwich Borough.
What we offer:
Linx offers a range of services for people who wish to address their drug use in the borough of Greenwich. Our services are free of charge and confidential. We work according to a ‘Harm Minimisation’ policy and in a non – moralistic or judgemental way that is based on an individual client’s needs and wishes.
Open Access Service:
Every Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Friday afternoon between 2 and 4:30pm. we offer our open access drop-in. Individuals who may be feeling vulnerable, or just need someone to talk to, can come into a safe informal environment for a chat and a cup of tea with a worker. During drop-in no appointment is necessary so just pop in.
Evening services:
Monday evenings:
ADFAM facilitates a group for carers, friends and family members of those with substance misuse problems. (Adfam is the leading national organisation working with and for families affected by drugs and alcohol) This is a structured support group and a referral is required. Please telephone for details.
Tuesday evenings:
Relapse prevention skills training group. We also offer one to one appointments and assessments for people who are working or can't get here during normal opening hours. Please telephone for details.
Wednesday evenings
Hope support group. This is an un-facilitated peer support group for carers, friends and families of those with a substance misuse problem. Come and have a coffee and talk with other people who are or have been where you are. Please telephone for details.
Thursday evenings:
We offer one to one appointments and assessments for people who are working or can't get here during normal opening hours. Please telephone for details.
Friday evenings:
MA (Marijuana Anonymous) meetings for those out there who feel they are smoking too much dope, hash, skunk. This meeting is completely anonymous meeting so why not come along and meet others who are in the same situation or who have been there in the past. Please telephone for details.
Saturday service:
Need something to do at the weekend then why not come in on Saturday? This service is run by WSUP (Weekend Saturday User Project) which is made up of service users, ex service users and volunteers. Come in and have a cuppa and a bite to eat, have a shower and do your laundry and watch a film while you are waiting for the drying. BlenheimCDP do not facilitate this service but allow the WSUP group use of the premises so if you are anxious about coming to drug services then this might be the place for you. Many of the volunteers here will have direct knowledge of this and other local service, you will not be asked to complete any paperwork but you can chill out and have an informal chat or if you prefer, just the cuppa.
Needle Exchange:
We operate a fully stocked needle exchange and offer confidential advice on all aspects of safer injecting. All are welcome and it is totally confidential.
Assessments and Referrals:
Clients who wish to access more structured drug treatment, ongoing support or onward referrals to other services can request an assessment via our open access drop in on by phoning us. Clients may if they wish, be referred on to a treatment / support programme appropriate to their needs. We can refer you to prescribing services, group-work programmes, aftercare or counselling.
One to one individual support sessions:
We offer one to one sessions with a designated key worker to support and facilitate changes you may wish to make. This provision is available to all service users and can be tailored to individual needs within an agreed care plan.
GP service:
We have a GP on site every Tuesday afternoon who is open to anyone registered with our service. So if you are anxious about talking to your own GP because of your drug use then come and see us to book an appointment. Anything that you tell us or our GP will be held in confidence and not shared with your own GP. (Normal rules of confidentiality apply please talk to a member of staff if you want to see a copy of our confidentiality statement)
Auricular Acupuncture:
We can offer clients Auricular (Ear) acupuncture which has been shown to relax and detox your body. This is particularly useful for stimulant users to help them slow down and unwind.
Indian head massage:
Not so keen on acupuncture or want to enhance that feeling of relaxation then phone or come in to book a session with our massage therapist who is available every Friday.
Relapse Prevention Skills Training:
Every Tuesday evening and Friday mornings. These sessions are especially beneficial to those people who are using stimulants such as cocaine or crack cocaine. You will learn ways to relax and to deal with feelings and emotions that in the past you might have used off. Come in or pick up the phone and talk to a member of staff about these sessions.
Cannabis support groups:
We offer a weekly support group for people who are concerned about their cannabis use. The group can be accessed by self-referral and works to a harm minimisation. MA (Marijuana Anonymous) meetings are also held here every Friday evening, phone or call in for details .
Herbal Teas:
We offer a range of teas to relax and nourish the system.
Hepatitis Screening:
If you are worried about your Hepatitis Status speak to one of our members of staff about a free confidential Hepatitis Screen.
Computer Training:
If you would like to use our computer here at Linx but would like some support from one of our staff members then you can just book a session and we will take you through all the basics.
Shower and Laundry facilities:
These are available on site so come and get a shower do your washing and talk to one of the team while you're waiting for the dryer to stop.
Information, Advice and Telephone Support:
Our workers can provide information and support to friends/ family members as well as service users. We can do this over the telephone for those who are unable to, or would prefer not to, come along to the project. If you or someone you know would like to address their drug use, there are a number of ways to access Linx:
- Call us so we can offer you an appointment to come in to talk.
- Drop in between 2 – 4:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.
- Ask your GP, other health or welfare worker to refer you.
